Born in Radhanpur, Gujarat in 1944, Anant Mehta is a graduate of Fine Arts from Baroda’s M.S. University. 
 
He has held several solo exhibitions of his paintings and participated in numerous group exhibitions, some spaces which include the Nazar Art Gallery in Baroda, the Nehru Centre in Mumbai, the Asian Fusion Gallery in New York, and repeat showings at the Contemporary Art Gallery in Ahmedabad. 
 
He is also the recipient of a collection of awards and fellowships – some of which have been awarded by the Lalit Kala Academy in Gujarat, the Department of Culture in India, and the Bombay Art Society in Mumbai. 
 
Mehta’s works reflect the human journey – from the humdrum to the more spiritual search. The latter is the aspect he’s been searching for all the more in some of his more recent paintings – particularly around the question of life and death. 
 
He currently lives in Ahmedabad.
