Nandita Chaudhuri is a graduate of the Central St Martin’s School of Art, the Courtauld Institute of Art and the Slade School of Art – all in London.
She has been a sculptor and painter for more than 20 years. She also creates sketches in charcoal as well as installations. Some of her work has been specially commissioned by the Arts Council, England. A proud recipient of the Nehru award, her work has been shown on a prime time 30-minute slot on television in London and on the BBC.
A truly versatile character - artist, art critic, theatre personality - Nandita has over 100 articles in several newspapers and magazines published in India and abroad.
Her work tends to be abstract, coupled with a strong emotional component. She regards herself as a non-conformist, believing in freeing herself from predetermined definitions and boxed-in stereotypes. She explains, “How can my today be anything like yesterday when I stare at different parts of my mind sitting in different areas of my palette wringing different thoughts and emotions that deserve to be expressed in different ways?”
She currently lives in London.
