Paresh Maity was born in 1965 in Tamluk, West Bengal. After studying a BA in Fine Arts at the Government College of Arts and Crafts in Kolkata, he went on to study a Master of Fine Arts at New Delhi’s College of Art. 
 
To name a few places where he has shown his work (because there are several), he has exhibited at the Centre of International Modern Art in Kolkata where he held a solo titled ‘Drawings. Paintings. Sculptures. Photographs’; at the Galerie Aspekte in Germany (solo), and at the International Watercolour Exhibition at the Royal Watercolour Society in London where he participated in a group showing. 
 
Maity is the recipient of an overflowing handful of awards including a Pt. Ravi Shankar Award from the College of Art in New Delhi, the Jamini Roy Birth Centenary Celebration Award, and an Outstanding Painting award given by the Birla Academy of Art and Culture in Kolkata.
