Suchi Chidambaram has been interested in painting ever since she was a child. Though she would later go on to train formally, she initially taught herself how to paint, learning through observation and experimentation.
For the past couple of years, her work has been mainly inspired by cities – their views, their architecture, their people, and the stories that they hold – painting them from her own memories, motivated by her own emotions. Her oil paintings of a city also attempt to encapsulate its mood, and the ‘rhythm and movement’ of the people who inhabit it.
She has exhibited her work in solo shows and been part of group shows both around London and abroad including The Nehru Centre in London, the Travancore Palace in New Delhi, the Apparao Galleries in Chennai and Delhi, and the Winter Show at Karen Taylor Contemporary Art in Middlesex.
Suchi currently lives in London. |
