A.A. Raiba was born in Bombay, Maharashtra, in 1922 and is a graduate of Bombay’s Sir J.J. School of Art. 
 
He took up professional painting in the early part of the 1950s and since then has been awarded with numerous medals from the Bombay Art Society as well as many of his paintings which take up residence in collections at the Cairo Museum in Egypt, the National Gallery of Modern Art in Delhi, and the Nagpur Museum in Madhya Pradesh. 
 
Raiba has participated in numerous exhibitions – over 20 and counting – including the Shirom Art Gallery and Taj Art Gallery (both in Bombay), the Exhibition of Indian Contemporary paintings in Milan, and the AIFACS in New Delhi. 
 
He has also received commissions to create murals for clients, some which include Air India (Sidney Airport) and the Ashoka Hotel in New Delhi. 
 
He tends to use simple but sophisticated colours in his work, coupled with distinct outlines and daring shapes.
